FAQ
What is a Life Lease Agreement?
A life leases requires a one-time capital payment equivalent to the market value of an independent living unit. You lease the unit from Elim Housing for up to 29 years and when you vacate your suite, Elim Housing returns your original capital investment less a refurbishing/marketing fee, even though the market value of the unit may have changed.
Note: this applies to independent living units only. Assisted living and residential care are rental based and are paid month to month.
How do I apply for a publicly funded or private pay assisted living suite or residential care bed?
Contact Elim Village’s marketing office at 604.582.5579 for assistance. Staff can provide detailed information and point you to the appropriate channels for funded options in either assisted living (The Emerald) or residential care (The Harrison).
What is the Legacy Fund?
The Legacy Fund has been established as a permanent resource fund and is integral to the services and support Elim offers. It has four areas:
- Elim Sustainability
- Financial Assistance for Residents
- Community Life and Programs
- Equipment and Furniture
Is there a waiting list? How do I get on it?
Elim offers three types of residences, therefore, the waiting list fluctuates and the length varies depending on the type of suite. Simply register with the marketing office if you wish to be contacted when a suite in your preferred type of residence becomes available. You are not required to take the suite if it is not as expected or the timing is not right but Elim Village reserves the right to move you to the bottom of the list if suitable suites are turned down a number of times. Current Elim Village residents that have a need to move to either assisted living or residential care can receive priority over non-residents, but do need to register as well. Contact the marketing office at 604 582 5579 for more information.
Do I have to be a member of Elim Housing Society to live at Elim?
No. Although Elim is a faith based community, it welcomes everybody.
Who holds title to the Elim property?
Elim Housing Society holds title to the land and owns the buildings.
